Thanks for the clarification. Since I've not read the book, I'm not
the researcher for you, I'm afraid. I had found an in depth review of
the book's fiction as it compares to actual events and circumstances
and discusses how the arrival of the Jesuits (by Salish invitation)
was detrimental to the native peoples' moral practices.
