It seems that some companies have different phrases for the term
"mission statement". What would be an alternative then? Would links to
the company culture be an alternative?

One example will be Wal-Mart. it has instead a 3 basic beliefs.

No - company culture is not really what I am after. If it was 'Our
vision' that would be OK. The statement has to encapsulate their aims.
You can deviate from the top 20 if necessary - I just want them to be
big well-known companies.
