Waynio's original Question had 'in'; but this one has 'on'. |

There was a substantial period during the 19th century when the standard piano keyboard did have 50 white keys (in exactly seven octaves), as it gradually evolved from the original 4-5 octave pianofortes to the current standard of more than seven octaves (with 52 white keys): U.K. Piano Page: History of the piano 1157-2003 http://www.uk-piano.org/history/history_1.html As I recall, both of the correct answers you have received so far have related to 18th or 19th century writings (Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves and The Three Musketeers, respectively.) Could there a historical aspect to this test that might suggest that 50 white keys is indeed "a" correct answer? markj-ga |
