Question ID: 308990
i heard a song performed at a college or univ. their was a key word
"borgon" approx. the leading refrain was something like - can you tell
me how to get to bergeron. bergeron (a close guess on spelling) was
"the" key word and the subject of the repeating refrain. the author of
the song may have come from easton, pa or somewhere in pa. At the
planned end of the performance, the college chorus would not quit and
"bergeron" just sparked another round. it is a great song.

the song was performed by chorus, orchestra and a lead voice. In this
particular performance the lead voice wrote the song. the lead would
either ask a question and the chorus would answer or he would state a
fact and the chorus would support but it was a building process "like
the knick knack" song that always ended with something like "can you
tell me how to get to bergeron". bergeron was the key word in the
piece.

my search on "borgon" and "bergeron" turned up a lot of prestigious
people with those names who may know the answer.

feeling it was in the north east.

Hi Rainbow.ga:

Does this look like a dead end? If so you are welcome to the posted $15.00.

It may have been a dream.

Hi agento,

I hate to think it's a dead end. However, I have searched extensively
for a reference of this song, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
The one thing that would really help with this search is an idea, even
vague, of which college or university this song was sung for. With
that information, finding the words to the song would not be
difficult. If there is anything else you can remember, no matter how
minute, it could help.

Thank you for your offer and your generosity. However, I would not
feel right accepting this in return for no answer to your question.

If you happen to remember anything that would provide any kind of clue
whatsoever, I feel that my search would be successful.

Best regards,
Rainbow~

A few years ago, I heard a choral group perform a song that had a
repeating refrain, "Can you tell me how to get to Babylon?"

Is there any chance that your "bergeron" could be "Babylon"?

I haven't been able to track down a song with the line "Can you tell
me how to get to Babylon," but I know that such a song exists, since
(as I mentioned earlier) I once heard a chorus perform it. I hope
another Researcher will be able to take this possible lead and locate
your song.
