Hi.

I'm watching some domain drop-lists those days and I still don't
understand some things:
1. Sites like www.namewinner.com and www.pool.com place their own
domain drop date (which differs from expire date listed in whois).
2. Some REGISTRARS like Pool.com and NameWinner.com are lucky to get
lots of good domain names while they're dropping. Why? What makes
Pool.com win over NameWinner? Are they accessing zone database faster?
Please explain...
3. There are some domain names registered by unknown registars as
("CENTRAL REGISTRAR, INC. D/B/A DOMAINMONGER.COM" for the domain
"FITNESSGEAR4LESS.COM". They're also managing to get good names. So
how does it speed the registration process after the name drop if
you're a registrar? Is it possible for me to buy the registrar
license?
4. Org domain names. They're usually not listed at domain-backorder
sites. Why? At the same time I keep watching some "unknown registras"
taking good after the drop.

Just wanted to notice one more fact:
http://www.icann.org/registrars/accredited-list.html
Central Registrar, Inc. d/b/a DomainMonger.com United States .info
it's written there that they can register only .info domains, while I
showed you FITNESSGEAR4LESS.COM

advert2k2p,
1. The drop date happens 60 days or so after the expired date (this
can sometimes vary depending on the registar that was used).
2. How do they get the good domains ? This is what happens : There was
a time when the domains would drop at 6:30 am EST. People would get up
early and get good domains. Now they have automatted this with scripts
like namewinner.com and others. Now at 6:30 am, every scripts that
want a domain name send millions of request to intenic when the site
drops. If you have noticed the winner is not always the same site. And
yes having fast zone database access is important for this process.
3. By being a registar you can buy domains too. You can make millions
of requests for a domain if you wish. But be aware that it's not worth
the cost of being a registar. It would be best to sell domains
instead.
4. .org is not managed by internic. You need to apply for another
license to sell .orgs. The companies don't think it's worth the cost
since the popularity of .orgs has been falling.
Hope this answers a few questions,
Jeff Oneil

check this url
http://www.whois-search.com/deleting/who.php
which lists Which registrars catch domains and for who?
so looks like the more registrars you partner with ( like in case of
pool.com) the better the chances of acquiring expired domains
