I'm afraid that "Charles McCarthy" is such a common name, that it
would be very difficult to track down any details without..er...a few
more details.

Do you have any other information. Specific names, dates, and places
of ships he captained? Significant events? Anything that would help
pin this down a bit?

Charles P. McCarthy commanded the Delhi (Pacific Coast Steamship
Company) which wrecked on Strait Island, Alaska in 1915 (January 18).
He lived in Seattle at the time. His last command was the
Northwestern. I think he also served on the Mariposa (Alaska Steamship
Company) and I'd like to know more about this service. (I have much
information on the Delhi wreck so don't need that.) He spent many
years on the Seattle-Alaska runs, I believe. He died at Seattle on
March 18, 1925. (Obituary, possibly?)He spent 17 years in the service
of the Pacfic Coast Steamship Company and 18 years with the Alaska
Steamship Company, but I'm not sure which came first or what years
were served with what company. Hope this helps!
