Question ID: 309365
I have a Nokia 6610 phone that I purchased on ebay (new in box). It's
a GSM phone that is unlocked, but originally branded for T-Mobile. I
don't believe that this model is offered in the US, but it does work
with my AT&T SIM card.

The phone works fine except for mMode (AT&T internet service). When I
press the "0" button (as designated for a carriers internet service)
it attempts to connect to T-Mobiles service (it never does). I noticed
there are some settings options that appear to have the T-Mobile
specific info. Is there a way to change them to AT&T?

I'm asking here because I dread going to the AT&T store or worse,
calling their customer service number. The employees are nice, but
they are always so short staffed and rushed (at least from my
experience). So, I figured I'd post here and see what happens.

mark800-ga:

Normally, when I have a question myself regarding anything to do with
mobile phones and mobile devices, I turn to Howard Forums
(http://www.howardforums.com ) where all the 'phone geeks' hang out.

In this particular case, I found the following, slightly similar
message thread there:

http://www.howardforums.com/archive/topic/290508-1.html

As you can see from the archive version, a person who bought a phone
from Italy was looking for a way to get it to work with AT&T Wireless'
m-Mode services, just as you are. The advice they were given, was to
use AT&T's web-based Over-the-Air configuration tools to do the job.

You can find these tools here:

AT&T Wireless | Data Services Support
http://secure.mouse2mobile.com/clients/attsupport/ota/configuredevice.asp

Click on the "Configure mMode WAP Service" link, and select the Nokia
6610 from the list. On the following page, enter your AT&T Wireless
phone number. Their system will send you a SMS that contains the
necessary configuration information to automatically set up your
phone.

You may also use the same website to set up MMS and mMode Email Service.

If the over-the-air configuration does not work even after a few
tries, then there may actually be a lock in the phone after all, and
you may need to seek the services of a local provider of 'unlocking
services' before you can try this again.

I hope this helps!
