I am preparing a lecture and need some anecdotal material for support.
the particular point that I am looking to emphasis is how much trouble
the pursuit of honor gets us humans into. If you can find stories, or
events that clearly show that someone's foolish pride led them to....
that would be ideal. Again, the emphasis is stories, the more
catastrophic the outcome the better, but they have to have an air of
crediblity, as in people shaking there heads and saying wow, you are
right, i see how foolish pride, and the drive for honor is. In truth,
any story of a person who gave up... for his own honor may have a
positive element for it, ie, a person gives up his life to save
another human... I am specificly looking for the negative effect of
the drive for honor and recognition.
