Thank you very much for accepting my findings regarding the number of
fatalities in road accidents in Israel for each year from 1997 to
2002.

Number of persons killed in road accidents in Israel 1998, 1999

Year Fatalities
1998 555
1999 472

?Since Israel is a small country where "everybody knows everybody",
every road accident fatality counts: ?In 1999, 472 persons were
killed, compared with 555 in 1998 - i.e. 83 fewer or 15% fewer
fatalities.?

Number of persons killed in road accidents in Israel 1997, 2000

Year Fatalities
1997 530
2000 461

Number of persons killed in road accidents in Israel 2000, 2001

Year Fatalities
2002 522
2001 614

?The number of Israelis killed in road accidents since independence in
1948 is greater than the number killed in wars and terrorist attacks.
In 2002, 522 Israelis were killed in road accidents. 20,500 Israelis
have been killed in wars and terrorist attacks between May 1948 and
May 2003, compared with 21,600 killed in road accidents.?

?Raz said 98% of road accidents in Israel were caused by human
error. The number of fatal road accidents fell 15% last year," he said.
"We must preserve this achievement, although it is far from
satisfactory."
