nels96-ga: According to the membership lists published by the House and Senate, I count the following number of Congresspersons and Senators that meet your criteria: Congress: I compared the lists for the 104th (1995 through 1997) through 107th (2001 through 2003) Sessions, found at: http://clerk.house.gov/histHigh/Congressional_History/oalmbr.php?congress=104h http://clerk.house.gov/histHigh/Congressional_History/oalmbr.php?congress=105h http://clerk.house.gov/histHigh/Congressional_History/oalmbr.php?congress=106h http://clerk.house.gov/histHigh/Congressional_History/oalmbr.php?congress=107h In comparing them, 267 names matched all four lists; one can infer that these 267 have been serving continuously for at least six years. Senate: http://www.senate.gov/artandhistory/history/resources/pdf/chronlist.pdf I scanned through this list looking for senators who are still serving, and who were originally elected more than 12 years ago. 42 have served for at least 12 years. I hope this helps! aht-ga Google Answers Researcher |
