We have a Sony DVP-N5315 video camera that records to a DVD-RW format. We have many problems playing these disks on other DVD players. Can you find any info on the web for this issue? |

A problem with Sony is that it uses a CD/DVD format that is proprietary to that organization. The DVD players that you are most likely having conflicts with are not Sony products and also follow a different format that was developed by Phillips later on became the standard for doing business. While Sony has the financial resources to risk in a stake that it has undertaken it is at the same time making and limiting itself to a narrow range of products that are incompatiable with other products. But interestingly enough other vedors product formats are more so than not compatiable with Sony products because they use the widely accepted and agreed upon format they most of the larger organization developed in a joint effort. Your problem is most likely a compatiability issue and not a defective hardware/software issue. I am willing to guess that you could use an S-cable and feed it into any supportive S-cable TV other than Sony and you would be able to watch the images/video that has been recorded. It would also work with a Sony TV however this would show how Sony media objects can be displayed on other vendors devices. |

psulion05-ga Great comment and I appreciate your input. However, I summized the same thing and what I am really looking for is published facts that I can give to my unhappy client. Sorry I was not more specific on what I needed. FYI - the Sony DVD-RW mini plays fine on a Sony DVD player. It just will not play on any others. A disk duplicator will not duplicate the Sony DVD either. |
