I'm looking for a specific kind of pepper grown in Guam. Came up in a
transcript I'm editing that I need help with the spelling. Either
starts with a "p" or a "c" (something like ponapay - phonetic spelling
- or cuanapay, phonetic.

Dear dianer522-ga;

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting
question. If you just want to know the spelling, it is ?Ponape
Pepper?.

Now, as a researcher, I am often guilty of believing that one cannot
learn too much about a particular subject, so I?m naturally compelled
to offer more than you probably care to know. If you already know what
you came her to learn, feel free to stop now. If you are curious about
what a ?Ponape Pepper? actually is, well, feel free to read on?

Pohnpei, (pronounced: ?pon-pay?), sometimes called Ponape (pronounced
?pon-uh-pay?) is located about halfway between Guam and Nauru. It is
now the capital of the Federated States of Micronesia.

One of the few industries on the island, and in fact the only
significant commercial agricultural product native to there, is the
Pohnpeian pepper, which is said by some to be the worlds best. As you
can see by the images below, the pepper isn?t a traditional pepper at
all, as we in the United States known them, but rather a peppercorn.

In nearby Guam where the product is often found at retail to a much
larger consumer base, it is marketed variously as ?Ponape Pepper?
?Pohnpei Ground Pepper?, ?Ponape Peppercorns? and ?Ponape Kuching?
depending on its physical state, packaging and preparation.

In short, what you are seeking is the proper spelling of ?Ponape
Peppers? ? and so, there it is?again.

I hope you find that my research exceeds your expectations. If you
have any questions about my research please post a clarification
request prior to rating the answer. Otherwise I welcome your rating
and your final comments and I look forward to working with you again
in the near future. Thank you for bringing your question to us.

Best regards;
