Question ID: 310926
hello! i stumbled upon this service and decided to give it a try. i
searched through previously asked questions but found none relating to
mine. however, that will allow me to be more specific for you. i
attempted to do some research on a tropical destination and as you
might imagine i was overwhelmed with info. maybe you can help me
narrow things down.

i will be going with a friend. we are both 26 year old single males,
thus i am not interested in a couples or family oriented resort. on
the same token, i am not interested in the likes of a Hedonism II
either. i would prefer a nice mix of single females and personal
space. this seems to be the most difficult criteria to search on. i
am most interested in an all inclusive resort but if you happen to
find other options, please advise.

also, i should mention i have a mild disability known as Cerebral
palsy aka, CP. this influnces my decision as well. as i said, it is
mild, i can walk well, i drive, play golf, etc. with that in mind i
am looking for a beach with little or no wave activity and minimal
undertoe. that is very important to me. the picture i have in my
mind is one with calm, crystal clear water that is waist deep for
50-100 yards off shore. (idealistic, i know!) also, i'd prefer a
resort that is accessable. maybe one that has bungalows who's front
door opens directly to the beach. or a resort that has a beach front
first floor.

again, this is the first i have used this. please, do not hesitate to
ask for any further info from me!
thanks much!
Jay

Hello Jawdow101,

Sometimes when you are looking for something very special like this,
it is best to start with a forum rather than a search engine. I went
to the Craigslist Travel Forum to see if anyone had asked a similar
question about resorts for singles. From the thread linked to below I
found a few good suggestions.

http://forums.craigslist.org/?ID=8997088

Jona?s Ono Resort ? Fiji

According to one review, this resort has a beach that is safe for kids
to swim. It also sounds absolutely beautiful. 6 hand-made bures with
direct beach access. The resort is marketed as mainly for diving, but
it also sounds like it would meet your needs. A diving resort like
this one is likely to draw a young single crowd.

The Mauian, HI

44 Beachfront Studios.
According to one Tripadvisor review, the beach is tranquil enough for
non-swimmers and kids. One reviewer said: ?The hotel provides an
intimate atmosphere that allows you to keep to yourself, but also
contributes to a neighborly atmosphere amongst the guests.?

If you want to go with a large company, ClubMed.com allows you to

activities, as well as by activity:

They are located at the Secret Harbor Beach Resort (which sounds very
couples-oriented)

One article I found mentioned Jamaica as a good destination for the
18-30 age group. The Beaches Royal Plantation is an all-inclusive
adults-only resort with a golf course that gets excellent reviews:

hi majortom! thank you! that did help me narrow things down some.
some of the links failed to work but those that did were very good
resources! esp. the trip advisor link. in the time that i waited for
your help my friend went to a travel agent for advise and that agent
suggested Aruba. saying that it was very calm beach wise and also has
a good variety of singles. through the trip advisor link i found this
site and its description really attracted me.

could you possibly research Aruba with my original parameters... Palm
Beach seems like the place to be to me!

Hello Again,

Regarding Aruba

I've found two all-inclusives mentioned on various forums for their
affordability and very nice beaches, the Occidental Grand Aruba and
the Holiday Inn. (Both on Palm Beach) Neither gets high marks for
beautiful room decor or outstanding service, but they do sound like
fun.

Occidental Grand

(not their official website - which I couldn't find, but has prices
for comparison purposes)

The Fathomtravel link to a review of Jona's will work if you copy and
paste it into your browser. (the apostrophe makes the link not work
in my answer - but it's part of the URL) The others all work fine as
of two minutes ago.
