Question ID: 310939
In the late 1980's or early 1990's, the managing editor - or
Editor-in-Chief of the Boston Globe - died of a heart attack; his
widow sued the paper (I
believe for wrongful death) citing that his condition was caused by
overwork. What was his name, and more importantly, did she win this
suit? (This was covered in a NYTimes article, I believe)

I looked. And looked. And looked. But I haven't found anything that
really matches the details you provided.

Is there anything else you can tell us? Where/when did you hear about
this? Are you certain of the details?...the timeframe?....the Boston
Globe?...the fact it was a senior editor who died?....of a heart
attack....?...and a suit was filed?

I'm sure you get the picture. We can only search on the details you
provide, so it helps to know as much as possible, and also to
understand which details you feel sure of, and which (maybe it was a
stroke?) are a bit less certain.

Any other information you can provide would be a great help.

It could have been that he died in the mid-1980s and I believe I read
it in either the NYTimes or the Wall Street Journal between 1985-1992.
It was definitely a Boston paper, although it may not have
necessarily been the Globe, it was a large daily. His widow alleged
that the paper overworked him and was thus responsible for his death.
I never saw any follow up to the original article.
