When were ericsson prepaid mobile phones introduced in Sydney Australia

I located an Ericsson Press Release dated September 25 2003, titled 
?More than 100 million mobile subscribers are using Ericsson's prepaid systems.?

At the end of the article it says:

I then sent a message to the above address asking when Ericsson
prepaid mobile phones were introduced in Sydney, Australia.


Anna Perrin ( anna.perrin@ericsson.com ) from Ericsson replied that it
was the Ericsson 628 which was released in 1998/99.
