I need some help finding a specific product. My husband needs roller
shoes that look like regular track shoes, but have pop-out, removeable
or retractable wheels so he can walk or glide in them. I've searched
and found several companies that make them. He's tried Heelys, but
they only have ONE wheel in the heel. He needs at least one wheel in
front of that so he has better balance. I can't find a company with
those kind of roller shoes that makes a MEN'S SIZE 12. New or used -
either is OK. I'd, of course, like to get the best price, but that
won't probably be the determining factor. These look just like
regular track-type shoes - with little wheels underneath that you
can't really even see. Lots of companies make them for KIDS with
multiple wheels like that or maybe up to a MEN's size 9. But he needs
a 12. This is not just a recreational need, so it's important that I
find them. In your answer, please let me know (I'm computer stupid)
how to give feedback - I couldn't figure it out with my last question.
I'm hoping someone with more computer expertise, imagination and
patience than I have can help me find these. Thanks so much in
advance!

Have a look at the Heelys shown here:

http://mountainboardz.com/heelys/9031.htm

They have size-12 with two wheels in the back and a grind plate in the front.

Seems like that would help quite a bit with balance, even without the
wheel in the front.

That is the company we got the Heelys from. My husband just can't
lean back that far. He's on oxygen (portable, so he can carry it with
him in a little bag) and it's hard for him to walk. (He was exposed
to mustard gas while in the Army reserve about 35 years ago and is
quite a mess.) His balance isn't that good. He can't walk more than
about 5 steps and we thought these would really help him in moving
from point A to point B when it's just a short gig rather than
dragging out the electric scooter to just get into a restaurant from
the front door - or other short hops like that.

We have dealt with medical supply places, but they tend to OVERDO
things - Way too much more than what we need and WAY too much $$$$.
These skate shoes would be fine - if we could just find them big
enough - and with enough wheels! :)

Hi patrice1-ga:

As you may have already found out on your own, the two-wheeled
versions are by StreetFlyers (http://www.streetflyers.com ). There are
of course knock-offs.

The problem is that StreetFlyers only makes up to a size 10.

If I come across a knock-off with a size 12, I'll let you know.

I found the Street Flyers, but I couldn't get in touch with the
company. Also there were quite a few other copies, imitations,
knock-offs out there which may prove helpful. My problem is that I
have two full-time jobs and a sick husband and I just haven't any more
time to spend "surfing" and I'm not very good at it, - thus, the
question. :)

Have you tried contacting hospitals or medical supply stores? They
tend to be able to recommend solutions or find suppliers for equipment
like this especially when it is a disability need.
