Desktopmodel.com is, unfortunately, simply a referral site. It exists
only to push visitors to other websites that have affiliate programs,
where the desktopmodel.com owner gets paid every time someone clicks
through to the referred site.
Every time someone gets tricked by Desktopmodel.com into clicking
through to the Webshots.com, Webshots pays the owner 1 cent. See here
for more info:
http://www.webshots.com/clickcash/
Desktopmodel.com also refers visitors through to more-questionable
sites that deal in pornography and other adult materials.
The images you are looking for are not actually owned by, or provided
by, Desktopmodel.com. In fact, it is debatable whether
Desktopmodel.com even knows where the original source images for the
thumbnails used on the site come from. The site exists solely for the
benefit of the owner's bank account.
If you install Webshots, you will have access to a large array of
images to use as your wallpaper, for as long as you retain Webshots on
your PC.
Now, if you happen to find an image that you like through Webshots,
and you want to download the image to store on your hard-drive, please
be aware that your agreement with Webshots states that:
---
"6. What Can I Do With Materials Provided By Webshots?
All of the material on the Webshots Site is protected by the copyright
laws of the U. S. and other countries. You are only allowed to use
these materials as indicated on the Webshots site; other uses are
prohibited by copyright laws.
All of the material contained in the Webshots Gallery, the Webshots
Daily Photos, and the Webshots Desktop software program may be viewed
only on the Webshots Site. You may not copy, reproduce, retransmit,
distribute, publish, commercially exploit or otherwise transfer any
copyrighted material in any format, electronic or otherwise. Read the
full Webshots Desktop Software License Agreement."
http://www.webshots.com/html/terms.html
---
In other words, if one were to find a way to capture a copy of the
image delivered to one's Desktop by the Webshots software, that would
be a violation of the Terms of Service. So, while we can engage in an
academic discussion of how such an action may be possible, I can only
advise you not to actually do it.
Is there a particular subject or picture that you are interested in
having as your wallpaper, and that you are willing to mention in a
public forum such as this? If so, perhaps it may be possible to help
you locate an image that you can download without running afoul of
legal agreements.
Please advise!
