I am looking for pictures or postcards of Japanese women sewing a
cloth of 1000 stitches for the WWII Japanese men as a good luck item
to be worn by them during the war. They are called "senninbari" in Japan. |

Hello Caddie,
I was so far able to find only one postcard portraying a 'senninbari'.
The print though shows one woman in a kimomo standing, holding a piece
of cloth, and it is labeled on the page as 'senninbari'. Is this what
you're looking for, or do you need more postcards.

techtor-ga,
Thanks for the quick response. Yes, that is the postcard I would
like. Could you please get any others? Or a book/magazine on women
sewing the senninbari cloth?

Hello Caddie,
Sorry for not responding for a while. I'm afraid I'll have to
disappoint you on finding other examples though. I have only the
source on the Net as an example I could find that of a senninbari
postcard; nothing else seems to have turned up in the Net, and I'm
afraid I'm not privy to printed resources that may have pictures of
senninbari women (and I doubt they could be posted online if found).
Perhaps another researcher might find what you're looking for.

Caddie,
What I found is actually an antique postcard showing an illustration
of a senninbari woman, and the woman isn't doing the action of sewing
the senninbari. There is some Japanese text. The source is the Japan
Postcard Library, so if you want to order this card, you may have to
get it from Japan. Would you accept the website where I saw this card
as an answer?
