Hi there !

I need a list of small (population 30,000 or less) U.S. towns which
have a university nearby.

Great examples: Oxford, Mississippi Population: 15,000
                  Laramie, Wyoming Population: 27,000
                  Alpine, Texas Population: 6,000

A 5-star answer would be 10 such towns.
If you find a total of 20 towns, that would be worth a $10 tip ($15 total).
If you find a total of 30 towns, that would be worth a $20 tip ($25 total).

All comments greatly appreciated.

Thanks a million !

Hi Ron!

I've been working on your question and want to make sure that I'm
understanding exactly what you seek. The more I research, the more I
recognize that some of this could be a bit subjective.

When you say "nearby," how nearby does the town have to be to the
university? Do you mean that the town itself is home to the

Also, just to be sure, does *any* university fit the bill or are you
looking for only prominent universities?

Additionally, would you like links to each university? Your examples
list location and population. I'm compiling a list for you that has
location, population, and university name. Is that suitable for your

Thanks so much,

Hi boquinha !

Thanks for working on my question.

1. Universities within 10 miles of town would be fine.
(I am basically looking for communities where a university
is the dominant influence----not business, government, tourism, etc.)

2. Prominent unviersites are best, not-prominent universities are
second best, small colleges and community colleges are a distant

3. Don't need any links. Just the town and the population.
I can even look up the schools myself !

Thanks again, boquinha. I'm very easygoing---not picky at all.
Publish whatever towns you like; I'll ensure you are rewarded.

Don't forget the University of Rio Grande in Rio Grande, Ohio
(southeastern Ohio) The school has about 2,500 students, and there
are three small towns nearby (within 10 miles) all with populations
under 10,000. If you are looking for the towns as possible places to
start a business, this would be a great place!
