Are you looking for a precise, step-by-step formulation process, or a
general overview of how to make it? The former might not be easily
accessible.

Just want to make sure I understand your question fully:

>i want to know the chemical process of making polypopylene foam

Got it.

>also give me the list of plant and mchihinery manufacurer for sheet of
>polypropylene foam.

Not sure of what you mean by "plant?" Are you looking for companies
that make sheets of foam, or companies that make machines for you to
make the sheets of foam? Can they be in the US?

Is this what you're looking for?

1) A handful of companies in Europe or Asia that
manufacture polypropylene sheets.

2) A handful of companies in Europe or Asia that
manufacture machinery for making polypropylene sheets.

3) A handful of companies in Europe or Asia that
manufacturer thermoforming equipment for polypropylene
foam.

Hello -

Important note: If you choose to rate this answer, please feel free to
ask for any additional clarification you may require prior to doing
so. Thanks for your understanding.

I have indeed found some sources that delineate very specific
processes for making both polypropylene (PP) foam and sheets. The
information is contained in the following patents, which can be seen
at the USPTO website:

Patent #4,424,293
http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect2=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2Fsearch-bool.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&d=PALL&RefSrch=yes&Query=PN%2F4424293
This invention relates to a method of producing a crosslinked
polypropylene foam having a good thermoformability and a high
elongation.

Patent #5,180,751

"This invention relates to polypropylene foam sheets and a process for
their manufacture. Specifically, this invention relates to
polypropylene foam sheets which are rigid or semi-rigid and
thermoformable into shaped articles for use in packaging and service
applications."

These patents are a little older, but are referenced by the above ones:

for trays, plates, cups out of polypropylene foam sheet. the answer you
have given is for polypropylene sheet, not for polypropylene foam

Hello -

Talked to a consultant and rep in the foam industry (who sells
machinery to mold PP foam). When I mentioned that I was seeking
companies that produce thermoforming equipment for cups/trays/plates,
he said he has really never heard of that, because (and you might
already know this), those things are ordinarily made out of
polystyrene (it's much less expensive). I'm still researching, of
course, but just thought I'd pass that on.

thanks. this is quite a new devlopment since a year or so.
trays, cups, dishes made out of polysterene foam(EPS) are there in the
market since last 15 years.the articles made out of polypropylene
foam(epp) are better in quality and are economical also.

I've got some manufacturers for the sheet equipment. Still waiting on
the thermoforming.

Are you at all interested in thermoforming equipment from the US?
I've found at least one in Michigan. Another manufacturer in Germany
says they're a chief competitor.
