I am looking for information on the following OS's: Windows, MacOS, Linux, Unix.

For each of these operating systems, I'd like to know the following:

1) Size of source code (or binary) for the last 10 years (or as much
as possible) of the operating systems and its prototypical
applications (including embedded system applications).
2) The size, number and type of software updates for these operating
systems (and applications).

The most important part of this question is regarding the size of the
OS Source code and its updates. As for the applications, think of the
most common ones. As for which versions of Linux and Unix, any of the
most popular ones will do.
