Hello Sheila,

I've located an online directory of textile manufacturers and
suppliers, the majority of which appear to be small and mid-size
companies. The database provides a lot of detailed information on
thousands of companies, but does not include annual sales data.

The companies can be sorted and accessed by product. For instance,
there are 274 companies listed in the "Draperies" category; 1,173
under "Home Furnishings"; 102 under "Napkins", 273 under "Pillow
Covers", etc.

Listings look like this:

Guilford Packaging & Fiber, Inc.
High Point, North Carolina, United States

Hemlines Textile Exports Ltd
Mumbai, India

Hemp Traders
Los Angeles, California, United States

Industrias Notesa, S.A. De C.V
Tlalnepantla, Mexico

Jakob Haerdi Ag
Oberentfelden, Switzerland

Jeffrey Thomas Fabrics, Inc
N. Smithfield, Rhode Island, United States

Jindal World Wide Ltd.
Ahemdabad, India

and by clicking on any company name, you can pull up a detailed
company description:

Hello again, Sheila...and thank you for the quick reply.

I'm glad to hear that this database meets your needs. And I'm sorry I
didn't mention the cost right up front...it's 100% free! The
internet's a great place, isn't it!

A site called TextileWeb is chock full of information on the textile
industry, and I would encourage you to explore around, as there may be
a number of resources here -- in addition to the company listings --
that would be of interest to you.

You can find them at:

http://www.textileweb.com

However, the main event, for your purposes, is their Buyers Guide,
which lists thousands of manufacturers and suppliers of textiles (and
related goods, like specialized software for the textile industry).

The Buyers Guide can be found at:

http://www.textileweb.com/buyersguide/

Take a look at the "Product Categories" list. There are probably
several categories here that might be of interest to you, but it seems
to me the two principle categories for your needs are:

--Textile by End Use or Application (13 Sub-Categories)

--Textile Manufacturers (11 Sub-Categories)

As noted in the parentheses, each of these categories has
sub-categories listed, so you'll have to click around a bit to see
what works best for you.

For instance, under the "Textile Manufacturers" category, you can
click on it and go to:

http://www.textileweb.com/BuyersGuide/Browse.asp?CID=184170&PID=0&CName=Textile+Manufacturers&nPHCCompanyId=&PHCCompanyId=

which includes a number of sub-categories, including:

--Textile Manufacturers, General (3142 Companies)

Clicking on this will bring up the list of companies.

==========

Similarly, clicking (from the main page) on "Textile by End Use or
Application" will take you to:

http://www.textileweb.com/BuyersGuide/Browse.asp?CID=184098&PID=0&CName=Textile+by+End+Use+or+Application&nPHCCompanyId=&PHCCompanyId=

where you could then click on:

--Textiles - Home Furnishings (27 Sub-Categories)

which takes you to:

http://www.textileweb.com/BuyersGuide/Browse.asp?CID=185398&PID=0&CName=Textiles+%2D+Home+Furnishings&nPHCCompanyId=&PHCCompanyId=

where you get your choice of clicking on additional categories --
anything from "Cheese Wrap" (???) to "Window Shades".

==========

All that clicking eventually brings you to lists of companies -- the
lists may be thousands of companies long, but will be broken up to
lists of about 25 companies per page. The first few companies listed
will be "sponsored" listings -- those that paid the site to be at the
front of the list. After that, the listings appear to be in simple
alphabetical order.

As I mentioned earlier, you can click on individual company names to
get a detailed record of additional information about the company.

I trust this will meet your information needs. But if anything I've
written here is not clear -- or if you need additional information --
just let me know by posting a Request for Clarification, and I'll be
happy to assist you further.

All the best in your efforts.
