Question ID: 312751
I'm interested in opening a higher end trendy clothing boutiue selling
names like Miss Sixty, Joes, Seven, Juicy. Where do I begin? I have
bad credit, so a loan doesn't seem like an opportunity for me. Are
there any other roads to go down and then where do I start? I need
information on buying, choosing a storefront, paperwork and finances.
Could anyone help me? thank you

Violet,

Is is going to be very difficult for you to open a business that
requires a substantial inventory if you have bad credit. Have you
considered other kinds of businesses? If you are interested in fashion
trends, one area that might be worth investigating is starting a hair
salon that appeals to those who seek the "cutting edge" in styles. A
hair salon is likely to be less expensive to set up than a high-end
clothing store.

Dear Violet,

Perhaps, given your bad credit, you shouldn't start with big
inventories, but with an eBay business, for example. If you start
small (as you could in eBay), you could expand in a gradual paste, and
worry less about credit, since you'll use large inventories when
you'll have the money, earned from your eBay deals.

Another idea, if, like PinkFreud has mentioned, you're interested in
styling, is to try to entre the niche of personal shopper, and again,
if the dream is to open a store, save enough so you will not have to
worry about credit.
