Question ID: 313204
Are there any common, commercial, end-user applications written in
Java? By common, I mean -- the sort of thing that might be on the
shelves at Walmart or Best Buy. I don't mean any Java development
software (like JBuilder, or Forte)

Thanks and all the best,
Chess

I'm not sure whether it's written in Java but I know the word
processor in Lindows (Linux)which walmart uses in it's PCs can also be
used in Windows so there's a good chance that it is.

Maybe you are talking about Star Office. I don't think that is
written in Java -- but I could be wrong.

No, cause Java is pathetically slow. Some games on cell phones are
written in java, but those are painfully slow as well.

I'm really just looking for the names of any products that fit my
original criteria. (see the original question)
