Are thrift stores an option here? I regularly find all types of
clothing very inexpensive, and of all sizes, at thrift stores. Often,
there are holiday sales such as on the upcoming 4th of July holiday.

I'm used to paying $2-$3 for shorts (tennis and otherwise) and on
holidays it is often 50% discount time (i.e., $1 - $1.50).
