Hi,

I recently received a printed copy of an e-mail from the ?sent items?
box of Microsoft Outlook. The email dated Tuesday November 10th 2003,
when in fact the same date was a Monday.

I am trying to establish whether of not the date on the email was
tampered with and if in fact it is fraudulent. My question is this ?
Is it possible for such an error to occur? Meaning, can the ?clocking?
of the outlooks calendar make such a mistake?

It is important you supply official (MS of other)clarification for this

Thanks in advance

Hi Hammer,

I cannot post the actual hadder since I have it as a hard copy. The heading reads:

Sent: Tuesday, November 10th, 2003 5:35 PM

What do you think?

Unfortunately, the hard copy will likely not include the full header
information. Without the full message headers, it will be pretty much
impossible to determine what happened with this message. Do you have
some reason to believe that this message was tampered with?

I'm betting it's something much less sinister. I'm betting that the
date was handed to the originating system as 11-10-03 (note the 2
digit year). The system, left to it's own devices, interpreted 03 as
1903. Nov 10, 1903 was a Tuesday.

If you post the message headers, cleaned of any actual email
addresses, there might be more of a clue there.

Hammer,
my sincere compliments on what is in my view a brilliant deduction.
But as a zealot for ISO date formats I couldn't resist chiming in, today,
