I am wondering if I can register a company in another state even though my home state is not there. For example, I live in NC but can I register a company in New York or Colorado? *I am not planning to move or anything* | |

You can easily register a company name or business in another state, as I have already done. Just contact any licensed attorney in the state where you wish to have your business registered, and have him/her do it for you. The cost for such is nominal, and usually attorneys do such a service very inexpensively, because they hope that they might be able to get all of your FUTURE business. It is a simple matter, and any attorney can do this service for you, even if it is not his/her "specialty." Good luck! |

To register a business in NY you can use: http://www2.nypl.org/smallbiz/business/struct/struct_sole.htm and for Colorado you use: http://www.colorado.gov/ Most sole proprietorships are free and setup online. Such as here in NJ. I received a temporary sales and use tax certificate online while they mailed me the real deal. All free and online. Hope this gets it done |

Try http://www.corporation.com/ . They are a law firm that specializes in incorporating incorporations. There are various laws in some states that require a registered agent or director to be a resident of that particular state. Delware however allows this, and also provides some tax shelter. Try reading the website to see if you can register in the state you choose. |
