On page 222 of William K. Everson's book, The Films of Laurel and Hardy, there is a photo of the Boys standing behind a car. It is not a movie still, and is clearly a "candid" shot. Laurel has his hands clasped, and both he and Hardy are laughing. I have searched high and low for a good copy of this photo, to no avail. Can you identify a source to purchase a copy of this photo? | |

Dear damfino-ga, Not quite the one you are looking for, but it is very similar to your description. http://editorial.gettyimages.com/source/CFW/details.aspx?iid=2636487&print=true If this does suit your purposes, I would obviously be happy to post this as an answer. answerfinder-ga Goggle Answers Researcher |

Thank you, but no, it is really just that one photo I am looking for. |

Damfino -- I assume you've done this already, but just in case you haven't, did you look at the back or front of the book for "Acknowledgements" -- and that's where the photo credits are listed, often with a corresponding page number. Did you try www.corbisimages.com. They have the Bettman Archive and if you type Laurel and Hardy into the search box (no quotes), you'll get dozens of pictures to check. |

Thank you, Cryptica. The Acknowledgements unfortunately are grouped and do not reference by phoo. To add to the frustration, a reference is made there to individuals and institutions "contributing rare photographs from their own collections," like this one, I presume. |

Damfino-- If you're truly obsessed, then you need to start Googling each entry on the acknolwedgments and see if they have searchable databasesor websites. There are lots of collectors of Laurel & Hardy memorabilia and fan sites, etc., too. As a TV producer, I am constantly trying to track down obscure photos and sources and these days a lot of them are online. Or the leads to them are. Just for fun, I looked up your author Everson and one site says his film collection was donated to NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. That doesn't mean his photographs were, of course. But that's one way to go -- start contacting the librarians and universities, etc. The OTHER way to go --and it would be alot easier -- assuming you only want the photo for personal use --is to have someone scan the photo from the book and use Photoshop to finesse it cleaner and larger or smaller and then have it printed out on glossy paper and frame it. It's a fun way to "own" something ungettable or unaffordable. |

Cryptica Thanks for the further advice. If the experts come up dry here, you've given me plenty of angles to work on. |
