Hello luceee, Here's what I was able find out regarding obtaining birth or marriage certificates in Indonesia. "BIRTH CERTIFICATE Available. A birth certificate (Akte Kelahiran) may be obtained from the Civil Registry office (Dinas Kependudukan and Catatan Sipil) at the place within whose jurisdiction the birth took place. This certificate is available upon request throughout Indonesia." "MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE Available. A marriage certificate (Akte Perkawinan or Surat Nikah) is issued by the following offices for the following population groups: 1) Moslem - the Kantor Urusan Agama (KUA - Office of Religious Affairs); 2) all other religions - a solemnization certificate must first be recorded with the Civil Registry office (Dinas Kependudukan and Catatan Sipil). Please note that the marriage is considered legally valid from the date of recording, not the date of solemnization." The above paragraphs are quotes taken from the following page: http://travel.state.gov/reciprocity/Country%20Folder/I/Indonesia.htm Both the quotes refer to the Civil Registry. I believe I found the phone number for one of these registries. It is +62 (21) 566 6242-44 (KANTOR CATATAN SIPIL). I found this number at the following link: http://www.swissembassy.or.id/Links/important_addresses_2.htm You are correct about the year of marriage to Catherine Boardman. According to the link below, she was married to Hewetson on April 2, 1823. I'm assuming she married William as per the births further down the page, they have list a son named Henry William. The link is: http://home.hccnet.nl/wer.davies/hpbencoo.html I hope this provides you with the information to obtain the certificates you are seeking. Regards, ames-ga |
