Question ID: 314109
I'd like some software that allows technical analysis of stock data,
like bollinger bands, moving averages, and any one of a number of TA
parameters. I used to use QCharts from quote.com. It was
$100.00/month. Since I'm not trading that heavily, I'm not interested
in software with realtime quoting. I can open my streamer on
Ameritrade for that, for free. What I want to do is download
historical data and perform a lot of TA on this data. I don't want to
go to a website and keep hitting refresh. Qcharts allowed this
functionality but also let me execute orders and see trades going by
in real time. I'm only interested in historical analysis so I don't
need to be online, except for the ascii download. Since I have an
Ameritrade account, the software should allow me to get data there, or
Yahoo (for free).

The best case scenario is that the software is free. I don't mind if
it's adware, I've just grown a little tired downloading what I thought
were candidates, but didn't really do the job.

If you've used QCharts before then you know EXACTLY why you'd fall in
love with the interactive TA and wouldnt consider hitting refresh on a
stock charting website ever again.

I should clarify, the software should be freeware or adware if
possible or VERY inexpensive.

Hi taticus!
I've found program that does exactly what you want, but costs $150. It
allows you to download free data from Yahoo! or MSN. Is $150
inexpensive enough?

Best regards,
elmarto

Yes, I think 150 it too much. I can find these programs in the 50.00
range and i was hoping for more like either freeware or 20/25 dollar
range. Ameritrade has a great program that acts just like QCharts,
but it's 15 or 20/month for the feed.

My preference is absolutely freeware. Esp since I dont need/want
realtime/live feed.

Thanks!!

that have indicators and intraday charts from bigcharts included for
free.

Thx for the info re:med ved. I've had it for a couple of years, it's
not bad. They also want a monthly sub, the freeware only keeps 2 days
of intraday data, and the charting doesnt produce nice smooth output.
It's a great little program for what it does! They've added a ton of
features since I first started using it.. thx again.
