I'm looking for lyrics to a song recorded by the Fifth Dimension entitled
"Ashes to Ashes". I know I could find the record itself since it's
available for sale online, but I just need the lyrics and perhaps the
guitar tabs or chords. Can you help me????

I have located a source where you can purchase the sheet music for
"Ashes to Ashes" for $21. Would this suffice?

I appreciate your very quick response. Unfortunately I have no idea
why anyone would charge $21.00 for a piece of sheet music so I won't
taking advantage of that option. I really only wanted a copy of the
lyrics and I thought that I might find it by browsing one of the
lyrics sites but since I have had no success, I thought I'd give your
service a try. I don't know if it's worth your time to keep on trying,
but let me know if that's possible. Thank you, Jim

In response to your question about the cost: I too was a bit suprised
by the price, but I think it is because it is an original sheet music
from 1973 in "excellent condition". I will keep searching.

I'm aware of the David Bowie song, but that's not even close to the one I need.
Thanks for trying.

I found some lyrics to a song called "ashes to ashes" sung by David
Bowie. The link that takes you there is

http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/davidbowie/ashestoashes.html

I don't know if this is the same song you are talking about or not.

Good Luck, Tim

Here are the lyrics to his song.

"Ashes To Ashes"

Do you remember a guy that's been
In such an early song
I've heard a rumour from Ground Control
Oh no, don't say it's true

They got a message
from the Action Man
"I'm happy, hope you're happy too
I've loved
all I've needed to love
Sordid details following"

The shrieking of nothing is killing
Just pictures of Jap girls
in synthesis and I
Ain't got no money and I ain't got no hair
But I'm hoping to kick but the planet it's glowing

[CHORUS]
Ashes to ashes, funk to funky
We know Major Tom's 4
a junkie
Strung out in heaven's high
Hitting an all-time low

Time and again I tell myself
I'll stay clean tonight
But the little green wheels are following me
Oh no, not again
I'm stuck with a valuable friend
"I'm happy, hope you're happy too"
One flash of light
but no smoking pistol

I never done good things
I never done bad things
I never did anything out of the blue,
Want an axe to break the ice
Wanna come down right now

[CHORUS]

My mother said
to get things done
You'd better not mess
with Major Tom

Here is a song called Ashes to ashes sung by the wallflowers.

Here is the link.

http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/thewallflowers/ashestoashes.html

And the lyrics:

"Ashes To Ashes"

Well, you could walk like a stranger head back into here,
Bringing gifts while you act so sincere,
Bringing gifts for a boy who's five years,
Looking for rocks and training wheels.

I don't remember you from any of those books,
Ashes to ashes and six feet under, face down in a box.
Where did you ever learn to treat me like that?

You don't seem to have any of that family stuff,
You know the hardwood floors and all that penniless rough.
Your bad luck follows you like a heart attack,
Twist your fingers, soon as break your back.

I don't remember you from any of those books,
Ashes to ashes and six feet under, face down in a box.
Where did you ever learn to treat me like that that that?

It's coming from another with a mother who's just like yours,
Givin' you headaches and all those mental scores.
Give a little, have a little, take some for yourself,
Like the needy and the greedy always seem by themselves,
Well, you must be, have to be one of these,

Hidin' in the shade under your family tree
Think I met you once in a liquor store,
No think I saw you hanging by the stage door
Handing out programs to the family theater
Devised a role so you don't mistreat her.

Take it wild, take it fast,
You never gave yourself a chance.

I don't remember you from any of those books,
Ashes to ashes and six feet under, face down in a box.
Where did you ever learn to treat me like that, that, that, that?
