Sometime between 2000 and 2001 one of two brothers with the surname
"MacAvoy"
died in a accidental plane crash while attempting a landing on
water.My searches
of Newspapers and Press Releases has yielded no information. The crash
site could have been in USA , but is believed to be Canada. I am
seeking FAA or
Canadian Department of Transportation-Civil Aviation web sites to
assist my search. My interest is one of strictly assisting the widow
of the deceased
by referral who was CEO of a helicopter company at the time and also
for which
no trace can be found.

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board maintains a searchable
Aviation Accident Database at the following address:
http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/query.asp

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada also has a web site which
can serve as a base to track down information:
http://www.tsb.gc.ca/ENG/
If you click on the "Investigation Process Link" you will find a
wealth of information on the availability of information, particularly
as it relates to "interested persons" (read as family members) who
have greater and more timely availability of accident information. I
don't believe Canada has made their database searchable over the Net.

Best of luck finding the information.

Hi pantarkes-ga,

I recall this this crash...if memory serves correctly, the crash
occured off the coast of British Columbia (north of Vancouver Island).
I remember that there were two or three casualties. I couldn't find
any further information on this, but if you feel this is sufficient as
an answer let me know and I will post it as such.
