The book "The Language of Flowers", illustrated by Kate Greenaway, was
first published in 1883 or 1885. List hard cover editions printed
after the original and state whether or not they are complete editions
of the original. For example, I believe the 1970's Avenal version
omits the poetry section of the original. Also state whether or not
the paperback version, which can be purchased from online book stores,
is a complete edition of the original.

Be sure to list only those illustrated by Kate Greenaway. Also,
please state whether the book covers of the reprints are the same as
the original.

Thank you.

Hi Cynthia,

You've posted a difficult question, one that would require much
research. However, I do happen to have one copy of the book - here is
a description of it, I hope it helps.

Edmund Evans, engraver
London: George Routledge & Sons, no date (probably 1880's).
80 pgs: color illustrations by Greenaway; small, 16 cm tall.
Off-white leatherette with gilt title and gilt decorations.

The first half of the book is an alphabetical list of flowers, a word
or phrase, and illustrations. The second part is an alphabetical list
of words and phrases with the flower associated with an emotion or
meaning. The third part is a short anthology of the poetry of flowers.
The last page is an index of the flowers.

Regards,
hummer
