i would like to subscribe to a service which will subscribe to US
magazines and periodicals on my behalf and send the magazines to me in
India by inexpensive US Post. US editions of magazines usually cost
only a fraction of what the same magazines charge for international

Hi
The answer has most of what i need. However i find that the issue of
international shipping is not addressed adequately, after doing more
research i have come to the conclusion that this is best address with
a mail forwarding service such as myus.com which you have suggested.
Could you give some more suggestions on mail forwarding services since
myus.com is quite expensive.

Hello
.
Sorry, I will clarify to your original question.
The listed sites do claim international shipping, I have supplied the
direct URL to the shipping information pages below.
.
Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/596188/ref=br_bx_c_1_2/102-9434800-8091335
Magazine Subscription Box (hmm which is actually magazinecity)
http://magazinecity.net/about-us---faq-s-international-delivery.html
Magmall
http://www.magmall.com/cgi-bin/webcart/webcart.cgi?UNIQUEID=[uniqueID]&CHANGE=YES&REFER=MagMall&NEXTPAGE=questions.html&CODE=43813#wherefind.name
Magazine City
http://magazinecity.net/about-us---faq-s-international-delivery.html
Net Magazines
http://www.netmagazines.com/international.html
Magazines of America
http://www.magazinesofamerica.com/inser.html
Barnes and Noble
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/help/po_shipping_options.asp?userid=6A451SH8DT#5
Mags Now
http://www.magsnow.com/help.asp?ecomid=1JM4Y1H1T0015YNK01B0SXA8Y6FD00001
(see Ship To Destinations: )
Magazine Mecca
http://www.magazine-mecca.com/faq.html
MagazineCraze
http://www.magazinecraze.com/php/faq.php#2
.
If it has transpired that the online sites who do international
shipping are expensive, and cross your inexpensive US post threshold,
the rates from myus.com do not seem too bad. $1.95 for 100g by air,
for surface it is cheaper $1.25 . The request for forwarding
suggestions is slightly beyond the scope of this question but some
suggestions are:

http://www.kimbombe.com/
.
http://www.usmailingaddress.com/
.
http://www.oregoncoast.com/homebase/
.
http://virtual-offices-online.com/
.

I hope that answers your question to your satisfaction : )
.

Hi carmen,

I'm in India, and I've not come across such a service. Even if one
existed, the cost of shipping etc... would make it as expensive as
buying the international edition.

Not really for two reasons. Firstly most US magazines offer discounts
ranging from 50 - 80% on their domestic editions whereas these
discounts are not available for international editions. Secondly when
you buy the international edition usually the subscriber pays a
disproportionate charge for intenational air mail. Besides usually the
international editions is also a "differnet" magazine in terms of the
advertising that it carries. See the FORTUNE internationala and
FORTUNE US edition for example.
Regarding shipping charges , the service could bunch magazines
together and send the same by US Post. The charges would be
collectively much lower than shipping each magazine by airmail
seperately.

International magazine subscriptions are usually sent through mail
consolidator or direct entry schemes, whereby the consolidator
receives mail in bulk, sorts and transports it, and then reposts it in
the destination country's local mail.

However, if you specifically want local rather than international
editions, you will need to set up your own mail forwarding service.
Many business centres and secretarial agencies, and company
registration bureaux, offer mail forwarding or "accommodation address"
services; you would need to find one that is willing to forward mail
internationally. They would probably want a pre-paid deposit against
future mailing costs.

One company which seems to specialise in the international mail
forwarding you require is:

http://www.myus.com/

I have no connection with or experience of this company.

Hope this helps.

only the odd stay magazine. Hope this helps.
