Yes, sources would help... but also more specific answers as well.
Probably quotes from the sources that have information about how
higher education affected music in the renaissance.

I think that this would vary from place to place. Things in Paris
would be different than in Florence or London. If you narrow the
question to one area, you would be more likely to receive an answer.
