Question ID: 314824
We are after a comparison of all available content management solutions.

I have come to realise that 'content management' is a catch all term
so i will give some more details.

We are wanting our customers to be able to edit their websites from a
browser. EG, change titles, add/move images, add/delete pages etc. It
also must support website design templates, with the ability to add
templates.

I know that there are many products on the market but we dont wish to
'pay per site', rather to buy the rights to the software (and code)
outright, allowing for use with unlimeted clients.

Please request clarification before you go ahead with the research,
just so that i can be sure that i have explained myself correctly.

Hello, bmcompany:

Nice to see you again around here, from what you say, I think you want
a list and a comparison of content management solutions that allow
users to edit the content of their websites, add new pages, images,
changes titles and also allow them easily to change the way the site
looks by using templates.

There are not so many solutions out there that gives the user so much
freedom and the most important, that are easy to use, but I will try
to do my best.

I will post a list with both opensource software and propietary
software that allows you to get the source code and use it for
unlimited clients.

Just tell me if this is what you want and I start my research right now.

Regards.

Hello, bmcompany:

The list of CMS availables is endless, there is a lot of them, each
one with it's own unique features, so I have tried to create a list
with the best, from the point of view of ease to use to novice users
with no HTML experience. One of the features I have been looking for
is that page editing is done with a WYSIWYG editor, here are my
results:

Conclusion:
My personal opinion and because your purposes is that you go with a
commercial product, open source ones tend to be more powerful, but
harder to use and more complicated to install and manage, so if you
just want to allow your users to edit the pages, there is no need for
more complicated environments.

As in previous answers from me, this is an open answer, please, don't
hesitate to request for more info on an specific product, or even more
search results, this is not a problem and I will be glad to help you.

Regards.

Perfect, all i need to do now is find some time to go through it!

By the way, we could do with the Username and Password (and any other
relevant bits) for the MYSQL submissions DB.

Thanks for your time.

Hello, bmcompany:

Thanks for the comment and for your tip, you are great!

Regarding your comment about the submissions DB, I don't understand it
very well, everything is working ok? If not, just tell me and I will
fix it.

Regards.

No problems with the DB whatsoever, if we had any problems, of course
we would let you know. Our programmer just wants the details to be
able to insert records from our in-house database.

user and pass?

Hello, bmcompany:
Sorry? Excuse me, but I don't understand what do you need, please,
explain and I will try to help you.

Regards.

When you made our submissions DB, you created a MySQL database. We
need the username and password for the MySQL database so that our
programmer can insert records from our in house database.

Clarification of Answer by joseleon-ga on 12 Mar 2004 03:04 PST
Hello, bmcompany:
Ok, the database was created when you opened your account, so it has
the same user and password you have for the site, in any case, that
values are stored on the config.php file on the site, just open it and
you will see them, I don't want to post them here ;-)

Regards.
