Question ID: 314960
I am looking to collect a list of movies (and the particular scenes
within the movies)that feature joyful (female) moments with hair. I
don't mean simply actresses that have beautiful hair in a scene. What
I mean is scenes that depict a woman (or women, or a woman with a man
etc.) actually enjoying her hair, happy with her hair, feeling
beautiful in her own hair, having fun or being playful or funky with
her hair. I want a series of scenes that show women who really love
their hair or have finally accepted their hair and embrace it as a
great or wonderful or beautiful part of themselves. I am not
interested in scenes where women win a struggle or battle with their
hair or merely scenes of say a woman walking down the street with
beautiful hair. I am looking for women having a positive moment or
interaction with their hair. These movies need to already be out on
VHS or DVD - I am making a short amateur film about hair and want to
pepper some famous movie scenes throughout it. (TV scenes are good too
- only if you can direct me to a link where I might be able to get
access to a copy of the program for a scene grab)

Thanks in advance for your help.

There is a sensual moment toward the end of the movie "Secretary" in
which James Spader washes Maggie Gyllenhaal's hair.

Another blissful hair-washing scene is in "Out of Africa," with Meryl
Streep and Robert Redford.

I'm not sure if this fits in to your needs, but there is a fun scene
at the beginning of "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar"
where Patrick Swayze is getting into drag. He has his head down, pulls
on his wig and gasps with delight as he looks up and sees himself in
the mirror.

Also, Ally McBeal has a number of great hair moments. Nell Porter
often plays with her gorgeous hair. There is also one episode where
Ling gives Fish a "hair tickle" which involves her caressing him with
her hair.

And of course, the "Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair" number
from South Pacific!

I immediately thought of the movie "Hair" in which most of the cast
sings about their long hair, including many scenes of women and men
with long hair admiring their hair, and admiring others hair.

If television commercials are to be considered, there must be
literally hundreds of shampoo ads in which a woman appears to be
orgiastically enraptured by the act of lathering her scalp. ;-)

In the first "Charlie's Angels" movie, Lucy Liu takes off her
motorcycle helmet and shakes her long hair loose while wearing a big
smile. I'm sure there are many other such "motorcycle moments" in
film, but I can't think of any right now.

There's an unforgettable scene in "Gilda" in which Rita Hayworth sings
"Put the Blame on Mame" while rumpling and flipping her luxuriant
hair.

Here's a still shot:

How about the smiling Cameron Diaz's um... er... hair gel in "There's
Something About Mary"?

How about Bette Davis in "Cabin in the Cotton" and her line, "I'd like
to kiss you, but I just washed my hair" and the diner scene in "When
Harry Met Sally" that included some joyful Meg Ryan hair tossage?
