Question ID: 315084
Can you locate the title of a movie made in the 1990s, probably and
indy, not much action. A married man returns alone to the home town of
his recently deceased father to sell the father?s house and dispose of
his belongings.
Although the home is in a small town it has a tourist attraction: a
larger than life replica of an elephant. With a young lady tour guide.
They meet. They talk. There is mutual attraction. They struggle with
their emotions. The house gets sold and they part. The end.
At the close there is a tear in the eye of the viewer.
It has been on TV several times but I miss getting the title.
Can you identify it for me?

Hello hottershot,

By an amazing coincidence, I have just started reading a novel (Money
Wanders by Eric Dezenhall) that features a larger-than-life replica of
an elephant: Lucy the Elephant, in Margate, New Jersey. Using "lucy
the elephant" as a search term, I found the movie: Walking to the
Waterline.

"'Walking to the Waterline': One Step Too Far" (June 16, 1998)

Incidentally, you can learn more about Lucy the Elephant at several
web sites, including the official site at www.lucytheelephant.org/ .
