Question ID: 315721
I am interested in obtaining market information about the project
management software marketplace (e.g. products like Microsoft
Project and others). Specifically, I'm interested in the following questions:
- What is the total market size ($ us & ww);
- Are there sub-segments in the market (e.g. high-end tools costing
over $X & low-end tools);
- Who are the market leaders?;
- What are the primary differentiators among products?
- Is the "groupware" software market (e.g. Groove) having an impact on the market?

The timeframe for needing answers to this is between now (11 Mar) and 31 March.

Thanks

Hello -

Resources for this type of data are very scarce. I've been able to
locate the two primary resources where data of this type are found
(and where articles, if quoting research, are going to point to). It
addresses the preponderance of your questions along with other
information, but doesn't breakout worldwide vs. US market size
information, or address your groupware question. Given that most data
of this type is ordinarily handled in multi-thousand dollar reports,
this is probably the best that can be had at $200.

Would links to this information be sufficient for an answer?

The included market size data I believe is global, but I can find that out for sure.

I am familiar with the "normal" places to find primary research, e.g.
Gartner, Dataquest, etc., and am not prepared to pay for this research
yet. I am looking for someone who may have access to such research,
and could summarize it (without violating the terms of the arrangement
under which they have the research), or for summaries of the research
that may be available publicly.

For purposes of this question/answer, providing links / pointers ot
commercially available research does not meet the requirements for
this question.

Thank you

Hello -

I should have clarified: the documents I have found are from
commercial research that you will not have to pay anything extra for.
The documents should address your questions, except there will be only
one figure for the total market size (as opposed to two), and no
information on the groupware question. Is this OK?

(i.e., they are summaries of sorts). Should I post the answer?
