A great number of prominent/upper middle class families in NYC in the
mid-1800's used the GreenWood Cemetery for family interment. What are
other cemeteries in NYC they may have used during that period if they
are not at Greewood?

Hi neetz~

As you may know, NYC?s cemeteries are limited, due to the fact that
laws were passed in the 19th century forbidding new cemeteries being
built; they simply took up too much space. Therefore, many wealthy
people were buried outside the city limits. However, here are a few
NYC cemeteries with prominent residents:

* New York Marble Cemetery: http://www.marblecemetery.org/

* The New York City Marble Cemetery: http://www.nycmc.org/

* Trinity Church & Cemetery:

* Ferris Family Plot (a.k.a., Pasture Hill Burial Ground; The burial
place mostly of Ferris family:

New York City.)

* Vault Hill (Contains remains of Van Cortlandt Family):

New York City.)

* D Vault Hill (Contains remains of Van Cortlandt Family; cemetery no
longer exists): http://www.rootsweb.com/~nymanhat/cemeteries.htm (?NYC
Cemeteries,? New York City.)
