Question ID: 316165
i'm using windows XP home edition. About a month ago i did a system a
restore and then couldn't be able to creat a dial-up connection, so i
followed the steps in this article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329441 and
deleted these keys :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan\PPP\EAP\25

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan\PPP\EAP\26

and it solved the problem.

But i think deleting those keys caused a problem in Internet Explorer,
the problem is i can't click links that open in a new page, and can't
cut/copy and paste text in IE.

so i followed the steps of the resolution shown in this article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;281679&sd=tech
and it didn't solve the problem.

any suggestions?

Hi desert_rose,

Here are five suggestions. Do one at a time, rebooting after each and
checking to see if the problem is fixed before moving on to the next.

1) Make sure you have all the latest updates of IE6:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/default.asp#critical

2) Try repairing IE6:
Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs /
Choose "Microsoft Internet Explorer 6" / Click Add/Remove
Choose to "Repair Internet Explorer"

3) Run your System File Checker:
Start / Run / Type "sfc /scannow"
(no quotation marks, make sure there is a space between sfc and /scannow)

4) Check for spyware (in this order):

Adaware:
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

CWShredder:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/CWShredder.exe

HijackThis:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe
Tutorial:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/htlogtutorial.html

5) Try this IE repair.
"Quit all programs that are running.
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.

If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for
each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each
of the file names below):

Shdocvw.dll
Msjava.dll
Actxprxy.dll
Oleaut32.dll
Mshtml.dll
Browseui.dll
Shell32.dll

Resart your computer.

Please let us know if any of those suggestions solved your problem.

Good luck,
hummer

First goto regedit.exe

Navigate to the following locations:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{79eac9e0-baf9-11ce-8c82-00aa004ba90b}\InprocServer32]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{79eac9f1-baf9-11ce-8c82-00aa004ba90b}\InprocServer32]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{79eac9f2-baf9-11ce-8c82-00aa004ba90b}\InprocServer32]

If the "default" key in the registry does NOT contain "urlmon.dll"
then Run the following:

regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Msjava.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Browseui.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll

verify that the following registry values are present and correct:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{00020400-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
Name: (Default)
Value: IDispatch
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{00020400-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\ProxyStubClsid
Name: (Default)
Value: {00020420-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{00020400-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\ProxyStubClsid32
Name: (Default)
Value: {00020420-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

If these values do not match, change them.

If this does not work, you will have to UNINSTALL and REINSTALL (not repair)

Thanks, ive tried what u said, and reinstalled IE but the problem came

Blaster Worm which i found in my computer.

now everything came back to normal after deleting the virus.
