When I boot my computer, the following error message occurs.
Message: Sometimes windows freezes after I continue by pressing
enter, sometimes it loads.I occasionally get an ensuing message: "A
fatal exception 0E has occurred at 0028:C0030CA8. The current
application will be terminated"

I have solved my problem, although I don't know why. My computer's
name is "dumbest", a Gateway running at 400. My hard drive went, and
I had to have windows reinstalled from a non-Gateway Win98. Norton
kept crashing the thing, but I finally got rid of the error message by
downloading Gateway update and redownloading some proprietary
software--so the whole thing was caused by Gateway's peculiarities and
non-fit with ordinary Win98.

Most Likely you are using Windows 98 I think. It may be that you have
some problems with Windows installation. A clean install might solve
the problem. Alternatively, try and uninstall some applications you
just installed of recent.

This could be related to a cooling problem. Check the fan on your
processor (CPU) and make sure its spinning when the computer is on.

Did you add anything hardware or software right before the problem began happenning?

If your using win 98 try this.
on Boot Press F8 (if your unsure, right after the BEEP keep hitting F8...)
Select "Command Prompt Only" (Not the one that says Safe Mode)
at the command prompt type
SCANREG /RESTORE then press enter
select a date from the list that (start with going 1 backwards)

NOTE: IF YOU RECENTLY INSTALLED A PROGRAM OR DEVICE THIS PROCESS MAY
MAKE IT NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL AND HAVE TO BE RE-INSTALLED. although it
may be that program or device driver causing this problem. I have had
good success with this in the past when using Win9x.
