Ideally, I would like a short list of about three or four of the very
best American (U.S. located and U.S. licensed) attorneys who
specialize in Bahamian (Bahamas) business contract/real estate law.
Preferably, they would be located in Florida (this is most likely
anyway). Please note: this is a real estate contract matter- I do not
want personal injury attorneys. I am looking for a short list of
top-quality *specialists* only, not a large list of attorneys such as
on the lawyer search websites. Thanks!!

Hi bookshelf,

According to an article in "The Tax Haven Reporter", you would do
better to look for a lawyer in the Bahamas.

"Only citizens of the the Bahamas can practice law here. U.S. lawyers
need to hire a Bahamian law firm to pursue judgments, etc. Generally
speaking, foreign generated judgments are frowned upon by the
authorities."

For example, here is one: Henley & Partners:
"Through its offices in the Bahamas, Henley & Partners assist foreign
individuals in obtaining residence status, and advise corporations and
investors about all aspects of investing and doing business in the
Bahamas, including comprehensive and efficient company incorporation
and management. Please contact us for more information or to arrange
for an initial personal consultation."

Would Henley & Partners be suitable or would you still like to find
US-based law firms? Just a thought.

Thanks,
hummer

hummer-ga,
Thanks for your research! You make a very good point, only Bahamian
firms can practice law there, and that would ordinarily be my best
choice. However, in this instance, I really would like to consult
with an American-based specialist(s) (who perhaps has an office in the
Bahamas or a close relationship with another law firm in the Bahamas)
who has enough expertise to provide good advice on this matter. I
already have worked/am working with 3 Bahamian law firms, and I feel I
need some "triangulation." Thanks for your help!
Regards, bookshelf-ga
