rtsnooze-ga :

A clarification please.

A.) Do you want aggregate sales figures(state totals), of all licenced
insurance companies, in the three types specified, sorted numerically
by state?

or

B.) Do you want the same report with detailed sales figures of all
underwriting companies (by company), sorted from highest to lowest, by
type, within state?

Thanks,

Colin

rtsnooze-ga -

You asked for certain life, and property and casualty insurance
premium sales information. It appears this information is available,
for a fee.

Unfortunately, I don't know if you would consider that an answer. As
such, I won't post this as an answer - just as a clarification. If it
is an answer, leave word here and I'll then mark it as answered.

There are sources of information that will give premium information
for any company in any state. For instance, one site offers the
following type of information for companies in Alabama:

Mutual Savings Life Ins Co
Business Type: Life, Accident, and Health

Direct Premiums Written $49,151,805

Assets $415,076,638

Liabilities $391,914,027

Similar information is available for any other state. HOWEVER, as far
as I can tell the data is not dowloadable is a form that allows the
type of detailed ranking you're after. Essentially, it's necessary to
look it over state by state and company by company in order to extract
information. You can get this information for any company in any
state (and much more detailed information as well), but on a one at a
time basis. Combining the information into a ranked dataset is, as
walts-ga noted, a commercially available service.

Let us know if any of this is of interest to you, either by a
clarification here, or by a post of a new question.

Thanks.

Hello,

Unfortunately I couldn't find the information for all states you have
asked for, however I think you can still use the pieces I had:

I have found data for the following four states:

Alabama
http://www.aldoi.org/PDF/annualreport2001.pdf

Florida
http://www.doi.state.fl.us/PDF's/2001AnnualReport.pdf

Colorado (only year 2000 data available)
http://www.dora.state.co.us/insurance/pb/00stat.pdf

Texas
http://www.tdi.state.tx.us/commish/annual01.html
(downloadable in parts)

These are the annual reports of the given states' Department of
Insurance. You can find all the data you need there.

For the following states I couldn't find the same reports, however you
may get those contacting the Insurance Departments there:

South Carolina
http://www.state.sc.us/doi

Georgia
http://www.inscomm.state.ga.us/

hope this helps,

regards,

crowley
