I am starting a SOHO and want to share the data in Filemaker Pro for
Mac among 3-5 users. I dont want to host the "server" locally and
everyone also needs web access to Filemaker.

What's the best way to do this? Are there companies that will host
Filemaker or it's data

Hello r2-ga:

Can you clarify the part of your question: "everyone also needs web
access to Filemaker"?

There are companies that provide hosting services for Filemaker
Server, meaning that your Filemaker databases can be hosted remotely
and shared to all of your users (you may find the monthly cost
prohibitive, though, for only 3-5 users). However, your users will
still require locally installed copies of Filemaker Pro in order to
use this data. So, when you say web access, are you referring to using
a hosted version of Filemaker Pro through a web browser interface? Or
are you simply referring to being able to use the hosted Filemaker
database from any Internet-access point?

Regards,

Very easy ... just use webcompanion. Configure it to run on port 80
and there you go. Open a webbrower and connect to that IP.

Go to www.fmforums.com Its a free collective of filemaker members who
will help you no charge. Just sign up and log in. I have found it to
be a invaluable resource in my FileMaker programming.
