I am preparing a lecture and am in need of material illustrating the
fact that we are the "Busy" generation. That we are busier, than
probably ever before in history, despite our having more time saving
devices and what we would assume to be a much lighter work load the
reality is that we are so busy that for many of us we fell a hectic
frenzy keeping up with our resonablities. What would be of primary
importance would be statistics and anecdotes about how little time the
average parent spend with his children.
Answer
There is no answer at this time.

It's no wonder we have no time to spare. I read that:

The average person spends 53 hours a year waiting for the traffic
light to turn green.

The average person makes about 1,140 telephone calls each year and
spends roughly 2 years of his life on the telephone.

The average person spends 3,350 hours of his or her life shaving.

The average person wastes 8 months of his life reading unsolicited mail.

The average person sleeps roughly 24 years of his life away.

The average person travels for one hour per day. That means that
roughly one out of every 20 years of your life is devoted exclusively
to going from one place to another.

The list of wastes with regard to modern time management seems endless.

This site from the BBC (so it *must* be true!) says that we're too
busy to have sex.

And this one says, amongst other things, we're not doing the right
thing by our kids.

Oh, I HIGHLY recommend the book "Take Back Your Time" as there are
tons of stories and statistics about this very topic! It is a
fantastic book and organization. I'm really impressed with it.
