I mistakenly downloaded a service pack for Windows 2000 to my computer
that is running Windows XP Professional. The service pack came with an
MP3 player that I bought from China. How would this have corrupted my
system? Also, how can I safely remove this service pack?

Try Going to
Start -> Setting -> Control Panel -> Add Remove Programs

Go down to the bottom and listed there are windows updates see if it
is not listed there.

You also might try Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools ->
System Restore

you might beable to find a restore point from before the SP.
