Hi there.
There have been a lot of articles lately about geographic-based
services and information on the web, and how this is a technology that
just hasn't quite "arrived" yet. Your question is making that all too
clear, I'm afraid.
I'm not sure how you intend to make use of the www.rmd.info.com site,
but there's another site I want to make sure you're aware of.
Yahoo's map collection recently added a very useful feature that will
pop-up all sorts of information -- restaurants, banks, movie theaters,
etc -- for most areas of the US.
For instance, I chose Minneapolis pretty much at random, as an
example, and asked for the locations of Chinese restaurants. Here is
the link:
http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?zoomin=yes&name=&ed=9n4Bqep_0TquBc9V77qPuVsYPLdQG8sJ1YRuRtLzo.uapjZGgpNwqn22Xa5ZKUJjntNzBk4pDUPoEqraOp9.M6eKMw--&state=MN&csz=Minneapolis%2C+MN&ds=n&uzip=55415&mag=9&desc=&country=US&dma=613&cat=dine&resize=s&rezoom=1&.intl=us&compass=&pan_x=0&pan_y=0&BFKey=ch
Click on any dot on the map, for the name of restaurant, phone, etc.
You can do the same for other cuisines, or other services, for that
matter.
Of course, this doesn't guarantee that these restaurants have delivery
service. But if someone wants to call for a pizza, I'm sure it
wouldn't be that hard to find.
If you need any help exploring the Yahoo site, just let me know.
