Sometimes when I send attachments using Eudora on my Mac, the
recipient (using a PC) cannot see the attachment at all (doesn't seem
to matter if it is Word/Excel etc).. The only work around we know is
for them to "forward" my email and then the attachment pops into view.
Strange ..it doesn't always happen, it doesn't always work.

My question--without changing from Eudora---is there a solution?

You can try:
a) zipping attachments before sending them.
b) setting the attachment encoding scheme to MIME/Base64, rather than AppleDouble.
c) ensuring that a suffix (i.e. .doc or .xls) is in the file name
before sending away.

Interesting suggestions-thank you.

a) i'd prefer not to zip if i don't have to
b) i looked at my settings for attachment and encoding is now is set for:
Binhex
but i see options for:
--AppleDouble (Mime)
--Apple single
--Uuencode
so what is your suggestion???

c) good idea--.doc or .xls is something i'll try next

Haha.. interesting options...

BinHex is a Mac format, so you can try setting it to AppleDouble/MIME.

Let me know how it works out.

Is there any possibility that the recipients are using Outlook
Express, which by default will not display 'potentially dangerous
attachments' with .doc, .xls, and other Office extensions out of fear
that they are virus carriers?
