My computer (Pentium 3, runs Windows 98) has recently developed a problem but I don't know why. I would like this problem solved: Whenever I click on anything regarding settings, e.g. desktop, mouse, date/time, i.e anything in Control Panel, the following error message comes up: "Access to the specified device, path or file is denied." All I can do is click OK and it returns me to the Control Panel. Basically, I can't do anything from Control Panel any more. Help! I am re-posting this question for you Mr Hummer, as requested. Thanks! |

Dear DB, Thank you, I appreciate this. Your RUNDLL32.EXE may be corrupted. Running your System File Checker may fix it, or you can do it manually. Run your SFC: START / RUN / TYPE sfc / CLICK OK / SCAN FOR ALTERED FILES / START Manually: Download RUNDLL32.EXE (Win98 & Win98 SE) http://home.bendcable.com/CooperSoft/Patch/RUNDLL32.EXE - Right-click on the downloaded file and select COPY. - START / RUN / type C:\WINDOWS / ENTER - Right-click in the Windows folder that opened, select PASTE. If prompted to overwrite the file, answer 'Y'(YES). I'm very happy to hear that it worked for you. Sincerely, Hums |
